One of the earliest maps to show the regions of present-day Pakistan and Afghanistan, this map appeared in the Lorenz Fries' edition of Ptolemy's "Geographia" edited by Michael Servetus and published in Lyon. Ptolemy's cartographic tabulations of Roman times were recreated by renaissance scholars as maps around 1400 AD and defined the world as known around 150 AD. This map, the ninth of the Asia maps, shows the area between Persia and the Indus with distinctly mountainous terrain and a small vignette portrait of the King of Gujerrat.
