A detailed plan-view of the noted Portuguese trading centre at Diu on the Indian west coast. Done in pictorial style, the buildings are displayed in profile with the hospital, mosque, fortress and so on clearly identified. Particularly finely engraved, the plan is set within an engraved plinth-like border, and appeared in the first volume of Prevost's "Histoire Generale Des Voyages ..." whose maps, in the main were supplied by the prolific and influential French mapmaker Jacques Nicolas Bellin.
