A mid-eighteenth century map of Carmarthenshire by Thomas Kitchin, published in volume 20 of the "London Magazine" in 1751. This publication, which began in 1732 as a direct competitor to the earlier "Gentleman's Magazine", contained maps of the English, Welsh and Scottish counties, and of the Irish provinces, at monthly intervals until its' end in 1783. Kitchin himself was one of the best known and most prolific of English cartographers. This series is characterised by a clear engraving style, an extensive key to symbols, heraldry, accuracy, and symbolically decorated title cartouches.
