Fine, strong impression of one of the earliest maps of Madagascar off the East African coast. This attractive map of the island is decorated with a titlepiece featuring mythical sea figures and denizens of the sea. The map appeared in Arnold Montanus work on Africa, the most comprehensive description to date and soon translated into English by John Ogilby and reissued with the same plates.
