An attractive woodblock map/plan of the city of Lüneburg in Lower Saxony. The attractive engraving shows the town in detail with major buildings identified. Set in a page of German text together with an interesting view of the city's mains water system. Map size: 38.5cm x 8.5cm. Sebastian Munster's "Cosmographia" was an all-encompassing encyclopedia of geographical, historical, topographical and social commentary. Munster was a formidable polymath with knowledge of Hebrew, mathematics, languages and cartographic studies and was responsible for producing the first set of maps of the World and each Continent.
