An attractive example of Mercator's plate illustrating Claudius Ptolemy's concept of ancient Germany showing the British east coast (with Scotland extending eastwards), the North Sea and Baltic coasts south to the Danube. Although a late issue of this significant combination of two great cartographers' work, this is a good crisp impression in subtle wash colour.
