A reissue of Mercator's regional map of South-West England by Hondius, in which the original cartouche has been replaced and Mercator's name erased. With no text to the verso of this example precise dating is problematic, but since the plate in its original state was last used in 1634 and the new state was in use from 1636 to 1644, a date in between these is most likely. In generally good condition, with wide margins and with original colour - just one expert repair to a small hole in the cartouche. A Wiltshire Record Office stamp appears at lower right - provenance assured.
