A decorative and copiously illustrated map of Abyssinia and the Kingdom of Prester John - part of present-day Egypt, Ethiopia and Eritrea. The map is populated with camels, elephants, crocdiles, rhinos and other indigenous creatures.
Jobi Ludolfus (1624-1704) was a German scholar and historian, specialising in Abyssinia (Ethiopia). His map is published here by Schenk and Valk with most attractive original colour. Minor centrefold restoration.
