A charming colured copperplate engraving of the famous church by James Gibbs, built in 1726. This view first appeared in William Maitland's "History Of London". The name of Maitland's engraver, Benjamin Cole, appears in the lower right-hand corner. Cole was from a prominent family of engravers, and based many of his illustrations of city churches on those from West and Tom's "Perspective Views".
