An early and attractive map of Metz in Lorraine. The Seille appears in the foreground and the Moselle in the distance. Major buildings and streets are named and a numbered key is also given. The map was published in Georg Braun and Frans Hogenberg's monumental town atlas, the "Civitates Orbis Terrarum", with Francois Belleforest's map of the town being used as the source for this map. With Latin text to the verso. Restoration to the lower and upper centrefold.
