An attractive plan of Cunetio - the Roman settlement at what is now Mildenhall, just outside Marlborough, in Wiltshire. The settlement lies on the south bank of the River Kennet, which is shown on the map, at the crossroads formed by two major Roman roads; that running east-west from Calleva Atrebatum (Silchester) to Aquae Sulis (Bath), and that running south-east to north-west from Venta Belgarum (Winchester) to Corinium Dobunnorum (Cirencester). The map was drawn by the antiquary, William Stukeley and was published in the "Itinerantium Curiosum", an account of his journeys in historical Britain.
