A magnificent and scarce panoramic plan taken from the Waterloo Monument, off Pall Mall. Looking over Horse Guards Parade and St James's Park it embraces the southern skyline from St Paul's to Westminster and Buckingham Palace and beyond. This view was given away with The Illustrated London News and is the first illustrated newspaper give away, here presented gratis to all six-month subscribers on 7th Jan. 1843. Favourable notices were received from at least two newspapers with the Morning Advertiser describing it as "the most extraordinary example of pictorial illustration which has ever yet been offered by a newspaper."
