The titlepage to Herman Moll's geography incorporates many of cartography's archetypal figures; Atlas stands on a plinth, while below him are Neptune sitting on a terrestrial globe, Geography at work with her compass while Cybele with her castellated crown looks on. Putti hold maps of the world and Father Time stands in the background, all adding to the geographical
activity on the page.
