A head and shoulders portrait of Romein De Hooghe based on the artwork by H.Bos and engraved here by J.Houbraken. Romein De Hooghe (1645-1708) was a Dutch engraver, designer and painter who was ennobled by John III Sobieski of Poland in 1675. He is well-known in cartographic circles for the fine quality of his engraving and particularly for the publication, "Carte Marines A L'Usage Des Armees Du Roy De La Grande Bretagne" that was published in 1693. Trimmed close and laid on archival paper.
