Bellin's important landmap of the greater part of North America. This map did not originally appear in the maritime atlas "Le Neptune Francais", but this example has extended margins so as to be inserted into that volume. Key features include major rivers and mountain ranges; text denotes the territories of the Native American tribes. On the banks of the river De La Trinite is noted the death of a M. de la Salle in 1685. This refers to French explorer in the Spanish south-west of North America Rene-Robert Cavelier Sieur de la Salle.
