This detailed map of the Cape of Good Hope was produced for John Arrowsmith's "The London Atlas of Universal Geography, exhibiting the physical & political divisions of the various countries of the world, constructed from original materials". Published in London it is considered one of the finest examples of English nineteenth century atlases. The upper right corner of this map has an added extension continuing the eastern coast of the map to Dealgoor Bay in Natal. The map illustrates vividly those areas and detail known and the vast interior stretches which remained unknown.
