A detailed and attractive almost-modern map of Iceland, with inset maps of Jan Mayen Island, Bear Island and Svalbard. As well as the usual details shown on this series of maps, such as major roads and airports, a key appears to hot springs, glaciers, lava fields and areas of gravel, reflecting the unique geography of the island. A note on the special Icelandic characters "thorn" and "eth" appears at the lower margin. This unusual unbound plate was first issued in the "Times Mid-Century Atlas Of The World", one of the finest atlases of the twentieth century.
