Orbis Veteribus Notus ... : J.B. D'Anville / J. Wyld

Derived from D'Anville, this map takes the bounds of the World map as described by C. Ptolemy of Alexandria in c.150 AD, overlaying them with modern geography and ancient names. In the finely engraved cartouche, a Roman legionary holding a map is in discussion with a geographer. In all, this is the perfect map for the student of ancient history. A little offsetting to the print of this finely printed and attractively coloured example.
