An entirely speculative and fascinating hypothetical map, one of a series that examines the progress made in mapping the Caspian Sea and the area between the Mediterranean Sea and India. This is the earliest of the maps that de Sale produced and shows the Mediterranean and Red Sea joined, and the Black Sea linked to the Baltic, the Caspian (linked to a northern Mer Glaciale) and southwards to the Gulf. One of the most extraordinary cartographical conjectures.
