The title page continues "With 10 Maps and 71 Illustrations". The latter cover a good range of the buildings and features that would be of interest to the visitor. The Guide had first appeared in 1937 and over the years, further photographic illustrations had been added. Alexander Gross, born in Hungary, came to London and in 1922 produced his first publication: "Geographia Authentic Atlas & Guide to London & Suburbs". He went on to New York to found Geographia Co. Inc, producing maps for many US cities. A fascinating record of mid-century New York.
