Using the plates bought from Jodocus Hondius in 1629 this is one of the maps issued in Willem Blaeu's "Atlas Appendix". Blaeu's signature replaces that of Hondius, from 1630. The map formed one of the prototypes for most subsequent South American cartography throughout the rest of the century and shows modern-day Colombia and the north-western parts of South America. The extensive, mountainous nature of the region is shown pictorially. French text to verso.
