An attractive and detailed plan of Turin engraved for the Society For The Diffusion Of Useful Knowledge - SDUK. The Society began in 1826, the concept of a Scottish lawyer Henry Brougham, conscious of the need for affordable publications to satisfy and educate an expanding British population of increasing wealth, literacy and travel expectations. Over 200 maps and plans were produced, first sold as part works on subscription and from 1844 in a variety of bound atlases. The plan appeared in "Complete Atlas" published by Thomas Letts. Below the plan are three illustrations: 'Church called La Superga near Turin', 'A View of Turin', and 'Royal Palace'.
