A charming, ornamental, earthenware plate with fine floral decorations to the rim, surrounding a map of Kent. The London to Dover Turnpike road is shown, along with other important roads. The map, applied to the plate by some lithographic process, is typical of the period but does not seem to be from a series published in printed form. This is a delicate and rare survival.
Although we are not experts in any way of china and ceramics, we believe this to be an original Coalport production, despite being unmarked, typical for early examples.
