Carte Du Japon Et De La Coree : G. Le Rouge

A charming and decorative map of Japan and Korea. The title cartouche shows three figures: a fisherman identified as "Iebis", god of the sea; an old man holding a fan called "Tossitoku", god of luck; and a third unnamed man who gestures to the name of the author. A parasol and perching crane complete the picture. A note in the lower left corner explains the simplicity of the map; outlines of districts and major towns and mountain ranges are shown. "Felsisio" is noted as the island for Japanese exiles.
