A decorative and detailed map of the regions around Moscow. Finely engraved, delineating the numerous watercourses and forested nature of the country extending from Vologda in the north to the Sea of Azov. The plate for this map was originally published by Johannes Jansson and passed on to his heirs, Johannes Janssonius Waesberghe. and thence to his heir, Johannes Janssonius Waesberghe, who - together with Moses Pitt and Stephen Swart published the map in Oxford in 1682, adding a grid system to the map. This example has, as often seen in English publications of this particular era, red borderlines inked in around the map.
