An important map from one of the earliest world atlases published by the Blaeu family, the "Atlas Appendix ...". This plate was one originally engraved and published by Jodocus Hondius and subsequently purchased by Blaeu to form the nucleus of the world atlas. This very attractive map shows the northern coast of South America, Venezuela eastwards to the mouth of the Orinoco, and includes Trinidad, Tobago and other offshore islands.
