A Map Of The World ... : J. Harrison

A large and scarce double hemisphere map showing the world based on D'Anville's influential work and with "Improvements" added by Harrison, most notably the discoveries of Capt James Cook which transformed European knowledge of the Pacific, its islands and surrounding coastlines and of the southern oceans. The map thus provides a precise summary of the world as it moved towards the nineteenth century. This large map was sold as a separate publication and appeared bound in an untitled atlas of Harrison's maps.
