An attractive small map of China with Korea and part of Japan, with an attractive cartouche and English text to verso. The map is essentially a reduced size version of Jodocus Hondius' map that was published in his edition of Mercator's Atlas in 1607. This plate was first published in the Atlas Minor by Hondius and subsequently came into the possession of London publisher Michael Sparke who had the original text translated into English and produced "Historia Mundi ..." with maps set on the page of text with titles at the top of the page but running alongside the map's edge.
