This attractive map was one of the earliest to focus on today's east Africa, however, very little present detail is recognisable. This edition of a map first published in the Atlas Minor, in 1607, map was published in Historia Mundi or Mercator's atlas, in 1637. This was the first English text edition of the series and this plate has an English text title, outside the map image and English text on the reverse.
