A Map Of Hungary : J. Senex

An uncommon and decorative map of Hungary "and the Countries adjacent" extending along the Danube from Vienna, through Buda and Pest to Belgrade. The map's large-scale allows good detail of towns and villages and indicates the region's physical terrain. John Senex was an active map maker and publisher during the first part of the eighteenth century producing world atlases, county maps and roadbooks of good quality. This map has a fine decorated title cartouche at lower right. With minor centrefold reinforcement and a little, negligible, margin staining this is in attractive outline colour.
mapmaker: J. Senex
place and date of publication: London c. 1720
medium and colour: copperplate, Original outline colour
size in mm: 485 by 580mm (19 by 22.75 inches).
