Williem (Guilielmus) Blaeu's map of Cyprus is one of the most decorative available with the distinctive title cartouche in the lower right corner - Aphrodite and her chariot are pulled by swans towards the island. Further embellishments include sailing ships, a compass rose and two coats of arms; one of the Lusignans and the other Turkish. Published well into the latter part of the century, this example of the map, with Latin text to the verso, dates from around 1640. With protective conservation to old centrefold, the map is overall in good condition - a very attractive example.
