A gloriously informative map of Hampshire by Thomas Kitchin, containing numerous passages of text on history, geography and agriculture. The 'Large English Atlas' contained the most detailed maps to date, and are characterised also by such decorative elements as the symbolic cartouche and heraldry. With gazetteers showing the Livings and Seats, together with topographical descriptions of towns and cities. With strong old colour the paper is slightly age-toned but a very attractive example of the map's first edition, identified by the imprint of mapseller John Hinton.
