An attractive and uncommon pair of maps engraved by Samuel Neele for Stackhouse's educational atlas. Each sphere (approx 360 mms in diameter) is clearly engraved with pleasant original wash colour and features the tracks of recent explorers tracks, most notably those of James Cook and, earlier in the century, those of Anson. Tasmania is shown in its pre-Bass Strait configuration attached to the Australian "New Holland" landmass. The two sheets are joined to produce an image in total 15 x 30 inches.
