A beautifully illustrated map of Australasia and the Pacific, from Malacca to California. The map is bordered by striking engravings of fruits, vegetation and relaxed natives. Portraits of explorers in vine-leaf cartouches appear to left and right. A view of a fort, ships and distant harbour town completes the decoration. A general description of the culture and climate is given in French. The marks of the engraver, Laguillermie, and the illustrator, Raimond Bonheur, appear in the lower margin.
