A good map prepared by Edinburgh based Keith Johnston centred on the Arctic and the North Pole extending into Canada, Pacific and northern Asia and including all but Iberian Europe. The most northerly points of various explorers are plotted with dates and include Nares, 1876 at around 85 degrees north, Swedish expeditions north of Spitzbergen and includes the location of the abandonment of the ships Erebus and Terror in 1848. As a physical map a coloured key identifies snow fields and glaciers, tundra and forests and areas of particularly high ground.
