This map was prepared by John Arrowsmith for the Journal of the Royal Geographical Society published in London by John Murray. Delicately engraved, the map shows the route of Governor Grey's expedition in April and May 1844 from Adelaide along the coast of Encounter Bay to the beginnings of Discovery Bay. Notes and dates on the map indicate natural features and progress of the expedition while vignettes illustrate physical features and mountains shown in profile cross-sections and in plan form. Printed on very thin paper and lightly backed for protection.
