Philippe Vandermaelen's "Atlas Universelle" was the first world atlas to be produced at a uniform scale, one of the earliest produced by lithography and showed all areas of the world. This interesting map is one of the most detailed early delineations of western Lake Baikal, Irkutsk and the surrounding regions. Baikal is regarded as the world's largest freshwater lake.
