A good example of a well engraved and detailed map by the influential Paris-based cartographer Nicolas Sanson. The map covers the Turkish / Ottoman Empire extending along the north African litoral through the Mediterranean to include Turkey, Syria and Arabia. A large title cartouche is decorated with the busts of two neo-classical figures and a Sultan-like visage above the mileage scale.
