A very large wall-map showing Europe towards the end of the nineteenth century - of great political interest. Presumably intended for use in schools or colleges, this magnificent map has survived in fine condition due to having been dissected and mounted onto a large canvas backing and folding into the original slipcase (390 x 240mms). With the area of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy marked and Eastern Rumelia identified, the map summarises the political shape of late-Victorian Europe as the twentieth century, and the First World War, approached. Although slightly worn, the cloth-covered slipcase, remains intact.
