A scarce and significant little map. Appearing on the titlepage of "The Thirde Booke. The Navigation of the Portingales" the English text edition of Hugo van Linschoten's great voyage book, this map was copied by John Wolfe, printed and engraved by William Rogers after Hondius' map of just a few years earlier. A delicately engraved double hemisphere is set against a strapwork background with the single word "Iehova" shining down on the Earth. Set on a page of English text, the map is one of the earliest world maps engraved and published in London that can be found.l
