This finely engraved map was a reduced size version of Aaron Arrowsmith's renowned four-sheet map of one year earlier. Engraved by Sidney Hall and published by A.Constable of Edinburgh this map reflects the original's reliance on Humboldt's explorations of the early 1800's showing Mexico but also extending from San Francisco to the Mississippi River and northwards beyond Santa Fe. Here is the Spanish South West as it was before the Republic and subsequently State of Texas was established, the only reference being along "R. Colorado de Texas". A good fresh example.
