An attractive example of the sectional Ordnance Survey map of Winchester and the country west and north of the town. A fine and detailed map at the large scale of one inch to the mile. The Ordnance Survey remains the nation's official mapmaking agency and has, over two hundred years, produced fine large-scale maps of all areas and set the standard for many other national mapmaking bodies. Sectional maps, as opposed to county maps, covered the whole country - this map extending from Wherwell and Micheldever to Whiteparish and Owlesbury. In good condition, the map has had attractive and careful hand colouring applied.
