A finely engraved, separately published table showing a geographic tree, from the main trunk of which the branches of Jesuit reach across the world are identified with the names of innumerable missions in each country. First published in 1762 displays the results of a catalogue compiled in Rome in 1762 listing Jesuit influence around the world. Below the tree are lists describing the extent of activity and an explanation of the government of the Jesuits which is divided into 5 "Assistancea", which include 39 provinces, 24 Professional Houses, 669 colleges, 61 novitiates, 176 seminars, 335 residences, 223 missions, 22,787 Jesuits, 11,010 of whom are priests. Two small roundel maps at each side show the hemispheres where a notable Sea of the West appears in the North American landmass. Minor marginal repairs but overall a very nice example of a rare and fascinating curiosity.
