A simple, but attractive map of the island by the foremost Italian mapmaker of the 17th century. This strongly engraved map appeared in Vincenzo Coronelli's "Atlante Veneto" a famed atlas of maps of the world's islands. Coronelli was the leading Italian mapmaker, cosmographer and globemaker straddling the 1700's. He worked closely with the Paris mapmakers whose information came predominantly from Jesuit missions around the world.
