An interesting and detailed map made by Bartholomews for George Philip. Extending across the whole of Central Africa from just north of the equator to approximately 20 degrees south, the map shows the discoveries along the Congo (Zaire) river from the Atlantic to the Lakes, actual and unplotted and the Indian Ocean. Numerous notations add to the map's interest and dates are shown for the furthest places reached by various explorers. First published as part of a two-part map sheet, this has now been separated and had a protective border added at the top.
