‘Philips' Handy Volume Atlas of the World Containing Eighty New and Specially Engraved Plates with Statistical Notes and Complete Index’. This popular atlas series is described in the Preface .... “The Handy-Volume Atlas Of The World has long enjoyed a large measure of popularity as the most complete and accurate Compendium of Geographical information of its size published. In this, the Seventeenth Edition, the very latest geographical changes have been recorded, such as the recent settlement regarding the boundary between Canada and Labrador, the frontiers between Iraq, Transjordan and the Nedj, while the characteristic features have been preserved, ....’ With 80 map plates and 92 pages of “Descriptive and Statistical Notes” this little atlas is immensely informative of the inter-war state of the world, its population, and economic and political structure. Red cloth covered boards with attractive cover design only slightly worn and frayed, overall very nice.
