Large engraved folding map, with ornate title cartouche in top left and original full-wash colouring. This large, separately issued map is dissected and mounted on canvas, as issued with some wear and detachment of paper from cloth but, actually, all still firm and intact. Seemingly a rare map, as is typical of separately issued items, with WorldCat listing only two other, later examples. The map extends from the Channel and North Sea coasts to the Baltic and Danube, including the Low Countries, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary and Poland. Major routes across the continent are shown as are sea routes from England's east coast to adjacent European ports. One or two minor areas of wormhole damage and old water staining to canvas but overall an acceptable example of a rare and interesting historical record of modern European communications developing.
