An attractive map of south Ayrshire, extending from just south of Ayr to south of the Girvan River, showing villages and castles in great detail. The Blaeu printing house was one of the finest of the period and Joan was assisted by his sons Willem, Pieter and Joan II. Their endeavours insured Blaeu maps were, and still are, renowned for the consummate care and attention apparent in every stage of production - with finely engraved plates and a high standard of printing. A good example of this uncommon map, a little light marginal stain but paper good and clean, with fresh and bright original colour.
