A scarce and very detailed map of the Orange Free State at a critical time in South African history. the map extends from Kimberley and Mafeking, in the west to Jo'burg and Pretoria to Portuguese East Africa, Zululand and south to Natal and Durban. Unlike most examples of this map, this remains on an unmounted sheet. Consequently there has been some wear at old folds with one or two small, insignificant, areas of paper loss, nevertheless this is a good example of a significant map.
