A. E. Taylor's series of decorative road maps and town plans first appeared in 1932 as promotional posters for Pratt's Motor Oil Company and were re-issued after their takeover by Esso at slightly reduced scale in 1936 in "Pictorial Britain and Ireland ...." Each map is covered with vignettes and small panels of text illustrating towns and landmarks along the roads. The town plans were simplified introductions to each city with the major roads, buildings and landmarks identified and illustrated in delicate vignettes. Here is a very interesting and decorative map of Warwick with a simple inset map of the roads to Gloucester, Bicester and Leicester.
